  1. ...Or rather the Amagasaki stargate? Anyway, at this station, up trains utilize a cross-platform transfer between limited expresses/expresses on the Hanshin mainline and trains going on the Hanshin Namba Line. What makes this unique is a local train is traversed by passengers to do this, saving them the bother of using two flights of stairs, and also minimizing the dwell time of the Namba bound train.
  2. Hanshin's new 5700 series has begun daytime test runs. These are the company's first new trains in 20 years, and they follow the 5500 series in having 4.0km/h/s acceleration, see Bikkuri's thread on the topic here: http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/6124-hanshin-jet-cars-speedometer-shots/ . This set will enter service in summer, and subsequent formations will replace the 13 existing 5001 series trains. It probably is about time for a fleet refresh, but the 5000s still look great in their dark blue and creme livery. http://railf.jp/news/2015/06/26/200000.html http://railf.jp/news/2015/06/09/153000.html Kobe Shimbun video with interior and undercarriage views video by SANTENDOGA, available in 4K resolution if you've got the gear :)
  3. h/t to quashlo at SSC forum for this. Locations (in order) are Nishinomiya, Ashiya, and Mikage. Mikage is one of my favorite stations on the Hanshin Line, curved platforms and a 35km/h speed restriction for through trains. Like those low profile departure signals(出発信号機).
  4. cteno4 was asking me on chat last night if I'd seen any new front-view videos, so I did some searching rather than just trawling my YT subscriptions and came up with this contributor, bxi06030 . I know we've discussed this line before, I think this is the best video of it I've seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h5X5owRiEs This is a direct express service from Hanshin Umeda to Sanyo Himeji on Sanyo rolling stock. I don't know if it will be of any interest to modellers, but there are some dense suburban areas through the southeastern Hyogo area (Amagasaki, Ashiya, Kobe). I really like the ground-level track, although it looks like there's a lot of construction in progress to elevate the line. Too bad, it snakes through the neighborhoods and there's a bit of a Showa vibe to some of it.
